Overview
Large-Format Five-Axis Milling-Turning Machine
VERA is MILCO Ltd’s large-format five-axis multitasking platform, developed for complex workpieces that require extensive travels, high structural rigidity and multiple machining operations.
The machine combines a wide-span moving-column structure with continuous A- and C-axis positioning, allowing large components to be milled, contoured and turned with fewer setups. Its rigid architecture supports stable cutting performance throughout the entire working envelope, helping preserve geometry and surface quality during long and demanding machining cycles.
A 6,000 Ă— 4,000 mm working table provides a load capacity of up to 120,000 kg. The dedicated milling-turning head integrates an ISO50 spindle, a 47 kW ATE torque motor and a triple Hirth ring clamping system for turning operations.
By consolidating heavy milling, five-axis machining, precision finishing and turning into one platform, VERA helps reduce component handling, setup time and accumulated alignment errors.

High-Torque Milling-Turning Head
The ISO50 spindle delivers up to 1,250 Nm of torque and a maximum spindle speed of 3,500 rpm, supported by a 47 kW ATE torque motor.
HEADS
Five-Axis Milling-Turning Head
VERA is equipped with a dedicated milling-turning head designed for continuous A- and C-axis positioning, high-torque milling and stable turning operations.
The spindle uses an ISO50 DIN 69871 interface, high-precision NSK bearings and a BERG tool-clamping system. Water coolant and compressed air can be supplied through the spindle via an integrated rotary joint.
The A-axis provides continuous positioning across a rotation range of ±100°. Dual STOBER master/slave reducers, two FAGOR motors and high-stiffness YRT axial-radial bearings support controlled movement under demanding cutting loads.
For turning operations, the head incorporates a triple Hirth ring, hydraulic clamping and two-sided disk brakes with a clamping force of 10,000 Nm.
The C-axis uses continuous positioning, master/slave transmission and absolute encoder feedback. The HYDRODOCK automatic head-change system, quick attachment mechanism and STAUBLI connections support efficient head changes and reliable transfer of coolant, lubrication and electrical services.
